Right behind you

Wednesday dinner party

I think the biggest thing on my mind was

I am making a quiche

For some reason making food is something that i just love

Chopping and washing and frying (especially onions and tomatoes) and the smell of hot, crisp pastry is possibly one of the best smells in the world (they should make a perfume called eau de pastryye or something)

However, even though the process of cooking was a joy

i underestimated the time it took to make a quiche
so instead of leaving the house at 5.30, i left at 6.30, when dinner had been supposed to start

Worse still, i left a mess because i had put too much of the filling in the pastry, and some had overflowed and crusted on the microwave dish. Still, at least it was a delicious mess (not so actually since it was burnt to a crisp but oh well i got it off the next day with vinegar and baking soda)

And so there i was, taking the rush hour mrt from buona vista to pasir ris (a 45-ish minute journey), with the still very extremely warm (and pretty heavy may i add) just-out-of-the-oven quiche clasped to me, protecting it from the  sweaty rough bodies of all the people streaming home from work
All i could think of as i was walking through the station was actually that people must think i was carrying a bomb or something, i was clutching that glass dish (wrapped in a bag) like it was a baby

At least the train ride was made better because every now and then, the delicious quiche smell would waft up and i'd literally give a small sigh of happiness because an egg-cheese-onion-mushroom-tomato-spinach-crumb pastry combination is so glorious.

The party itself was delightful, Ollie made chicken crumbed in crisps (it sounds weird, but the cheese one's were actually quite nice, though the dorito ones were pretty dry), and there was also delicious salad.

Afterwards, we played bridge (i learned finally! and the team of Shermaine and I-both new to the game, actually didn't come last!)

And that was the end of a lovely night

school tomorrow i have to sleep now WHY SEPTEMBER HOLIDAYS WHY DO YOU HAVE TO END
