laryngitis
Sweetflag or calamus (Acorus), which is thought to have 'mystic powers' oooooooh.
Bloodroot (Sanguinaria). wards off evil spirits, but is at the same time, poisonous. consume at your own risk.
Coneflower (Echinacea, Rudbeckia). i actually have echinacea and it actually works amazingly when you put a few drops in your ribena)
Wild cherry (Prunus virginiana) bark.
from http://www.peacefulharmony.org/therapies/nativemedicine2.htm
And this is interesting...."Tribal cultures interpret disease and human suffering as disharmony. An individual suffers because in some way he or she has fallen out of harmony. The person who does not feel well has gotten out of phase with the correct relationships."
keep your relationships healthy and happy, and god bless you.

Miriam

i need some magic in my life
Dear unicorns,
you weren't invited.
Sincerely,
Noah
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear unicorns,
if you descend from heaven to Singapore, take the green line to commonwealth and use your magical intuition to find me, i'm sure i could give you a cupcake to cheer you up.
by the way, i have my little ponies that need baby sitting, could you....
lots of love,
Miriam
P.S please first disguise yourself as humans. the government does not allow animals on the MRT.
please STOP
this picture is entirely not true.
girls say "why are you doing this to me?"
to boys who (continually) say no.
hooray for shopping day
IN the MRT:
on the way there, i sat next to this cute toddler and played car-rolling with his toy car (with him, i didn't steal it and play with it by myself)
and then when i was going home i gave my seat up to an old lady. so i feel pretty happy :)
NOOO:
the downside is that i didn't manage to buy any thing for timmy's birthday although it is in seven days.
oh no. DOOMED
and i have school tomorrow.
i am getting back results. xx

coincidence? i have no idea
today, i went shopping. in three hours of shopping i saw:
1)a retired teacher from my school
2) my primary school bus driver (who i waved to as i was crossing the road.he was in his bus)
3) my sisters friend valerie, who i waved to and hugged before she had to rush off for a movie
4) numerous other girls from my school
wow.
too cool for shoes
today, after an exhausting day of shopping with my friends where i bought a hokkaido ice cream, famous amous cookies and my sisters christmas present, i took the newly opened circle line MRT home.
it was pretty normal, like other trains...
But when i got off, i decided to walk home without shoes. so i did. because i'm cool like that.
i also found an interesting peice of wood so i picked it up, and carried it home despite the fact that it had woodlice (which i shook off before bringing the wood indoors)

some comfort
today as i was walking home i saw on the instructions for the use of the exercises equipment for old people this sentence:
Stand up straight and hug yourself.
i think those are words of wisdom :)

one night....
Last night there was a fearsome storm. all ye Singaporeans heard the voice of the wind and the rain and cowered and turned off their air con (probably not)
and a tree outside my house fell down so i had to jump over the drain to get to my car. thankfully it didn't squash my car.
but when i got home it was gone and the path way to my house was covered with wood shavings.

like a thief in the night
So far:
my mum's orange Birkenstocks (really old)
my sister's maroon converses
my sister's high top checked converses
two pairs of my sister's tennis shoes
and
my brother's plastic eight dollar skateboard that he got second hand at a charity shop
have gone missing
the strange thing is the shoe thieves seem to be taking women's shoes of a certain size.
my neighbors had their bikes stolen too. All their bikes.
its horrible and puzzling because if i were a thief, i wouldn't steal someone's dirty old shoes, i would raid a shop where the shoes are clean and new. so it all points to the fact that these shoe thieves think its some kind of game.
we cant file a report to the police because they'd just say i was our fault for leaving the shoes out in public property.
yesterday my sister was so fed up that she wanted to write outside. put my shoes back we have you on camera. but my dad told her not to because he didn't want to provoke the to something worse like arson.
i think we really should get cameras. but my brother said "what if they steal those too?"

guilt
a few days ago i saw a group of kids my age or younger smoking near the railway track.
i was on my way to math tuition and so i just looked at them , shocked, but i didn't ask them to stop or anything
a girl was with them, the only one not wearing a school uniform, and she looked pretty sick
maybe it was her first time smoking.
and i didn;t stop and help.
i was appalled that kids my age could be smoking, instead of having a happy childhood.

Dread
School tomorrow. after a golden week of nothingness :(
hands up if you want to live in a holiday forever.
All expenses provided.
What are you trying to do to me school? WHY?WHY?
Fiasco
It was a fiasco, ֆիասկո, fiyasko,фіяска, কার্যবিপত্তি, фиаско, 惨败, fijasko, kabalastugan, ფიასკო, φιάσκο, ફિયાસ્કા, fyasko, असफलता, kudarc, misheppnað tiltæki, kegagalan, ಗೊಂದಲ, 큰 실수, tortor, fiasko, фијаското, kemelut, фиаско, фијаско, polom, ఫియస్కో, ล้มเหลว, фіаско, thất bại to. I made so many mistakes, and for the first half of the second congregation one, no one could hear me because my mike wasn't on properly. SO, that means they missed the harmony :(
which i practised hard for. and then, i came it at the wrong time for the song of response!
hai yo.
alamak.
darn it.
but i guess its ok because its to god we worship and i suppose he's used to us making all these silly little mistakes.

changi
Yesterday me, hannah, daddy and tim went to changi. At first i was really reluctant and pretty whiny. i remembered changi as a dirty place that smelt like fish. when we got there, i was a bit more ready and found to my delight that there was no fish smell, it wasn't too dirty and the food was nice. so we had a delicious lunch of satay and chicken nasi lemak. then we went to the Beach and me, hannah and tim indulged in childhood fun like catching.
i was quite sandy by the time we finished because running in the sand when your shoes are 2 sizes to big (i borrowed hannah's because i have no track shoes of my own) is pretty hard.
then we went for the board walk which was ok but not amazing but the orange juice i had at the sailing club was!!! but later the people there found out that we weren't members and they weren't to pleased.
we saw lots of people fishing but all of then=m hadn't caught anything apart from a few piddly prawns or one small fish. Tim went fishing last night and caught 24 fish, which are now in my freezer. respect all.

plans gone awry
so, i planned what i was going to wear on Sunday, which comprised of a new top[ i got from minds yesterday at $2, but my sister said it was too trendy. Too trendy! i thought she was going to say its too ugly or something because i'm not exactly known for being fashionable. oh well, too trendy is good for me :) after all it is YOUTH worship right? btw, not as trendy as what the model up there is wearing. i'm not that rich.
water loss
yesterday my water was supposedly 'cut off' from 2 to 5. actually, it wasn't, but they said they were doing something to the system, so i didn't trust the water enough to drink it. it could have been sewage water or something.
Anyway, so i depended on ice cubes to survive.
i think i am now dehydrated, because i am feeling very cranky.
perfect therapy at this moment: swimming in a pool with no peeing toddlers.

Amazing
Today was worship practice number 2. it went
a) great! really fun~ quote miriam
b) terrible! already after the first song! ~ quote hannah.
I guess it was a bit of both. we only did three songs, though the last one was a blast.(yesterday today and forever by vicky beeching)
though there was this note in "in christ alone" that both me and gloria couldn't get, so we kind of collapsed into giggles at one point. because of our inability. now that i write it down it seems pretty silly.
If i had the lungs of charice, i would be able to get any note easily. watch this video (from 2:24 onwards), adn you'll see what i mean!

accomplishment
i feel like i've done everything i needed to today, though thats not true. i still haven't begun revision. all i;ve done is baked, read, blogged, facebooked, read, cooked spaghetti, and generally relaxed.
my teachers are going to kill me but you know what? i'll pacify them with the yummy cupcakes i made :)
MINDS
Tomorrow i'm going shopping in minds, the charity shop near my house where you can get second hand stuff for like 2 dollars!!!! they have some really unusual stuff there too.... CAN'T WAIT
deer in the headlights
I so nervous for this sunday!!!!!! I hope i don't freeze on stage...i'm asking X to advise me...but X has not replied to my sms :(
If i do freeze, would my dear friend emily please never remind me of the day i humiliated myself in front of the whole congregation?
This is worse than preparing as MC for a choir concert
doesn't this girl look really shocked, like she just saw her principal in underpants or something?
Riddikulus
Yesterday my friend said something about me being spoilt for choice just because i am Miriam. Comforting, flattering, but absolutely untrue. Just like cupcakes with beautiful icing. Lovely to look at, too sweet to eat.
Hair trouble
I had at least 5 bobby pins at the start of the year. Now i'm down to 2.
You know what i want for my christmas present.

Do not blow this miriam
X SMSed MEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i felt this stillness in my stomach then euphoria erupted! I'm so happy
i must stay calm. i must not blow this. i must be cool
I just want to dance around the room
we want to see jesus lifted high
Doing Worship This SUNDAY!!!!
So nervous, i'll be singing in front of tons of people.
But it'll be good practice for Youth camp
love this song btw, so catchy
Oops i did it again
during the already mentioned filming with my friend, i "spray painted" the school wall.
Not really.
We put a plastic sheet over the wall and then spray painted that.
unfortunately, my lit teacher walked by, as did the vice principal.
OH NO
Now they both think i'm some evil graffiti vandaliser person
TERRIBLE, HORRIBLE NO GOOD, VERY BAD yesterDAY
URGH. Yesterday, i met up with a friend in school to do filming. i knew she was bringing her boyfriend and his friend, but i never expected it to be SO BAD.
The filming was fine although a bit awkward at first, and my mic kept falling down the front of my shirt.
THEN we went for lunch at city plaza, my friends treat. that was when things went icky.
Number one, in the bus and the train, my friend was permanently hugging her boyfriend, so that i and the other boy were left standing awkwardly. Ok, maybe i am exaggerating but still it wasn't comfortable watching theme.
And then, when we got to the restaurant, my friend and her boyfriend went to withdraw money, and i was left alone with the other guy. Awkward much!
And when we were eating lunch, which, by the way would have been very nice because the food tasted awesome though it was overpriced, the two guys kept making thats what she said jokes which are not the nicest things to hear if you are a girl and if you are eating lunch, or for that matter, if you are not eating lunch!
After that, we went to ben and jerry's to grab some ice cream and i though hooray, because i love ice cream BUT the horrible jokes continued and what was worse was that it became obvious that my friend and her boyfriend were trying to set me up with the other guy ( i don't know if he was in on it too but i give him the benefit of the doubt).
When i realised, i felt pretty sick because number one, i don't like that guy in that way, and number two, I LIKE SOMEONE ELSE. ok, i said it but for heaven's sake please dont ask me who because i won't tell. Its almost impossible that anything will happen between us but for now i'd like to hold on to my impossible fantasy romance and not have some other guy forced on me!
So, now that i've vented my fury and disgust, i'd just like to say that i don't blame my friend, she
probably thought i was enjoying it (i can hide my feelings pretty well when i want to, its showing
them thats hard usually), and i just really NEVER EVER want to go through that EVER AGAIN
D&T
Is it coincidence or me just being plain unlucky?
two people that i love are on msn and i cant talk to them :(
SO CLOSE YET SO FAR

Breakfast with a heart
Today, when i was having roti prata in Ghim Moh, there was a old busker singing songs to us.
He was about 65 years old, and he played the guitar and the harmonica and sang songs in English and chinese dialect. He sang really well, and loads of people listened and gave him their spare cash.
But what really impressed me was this other man who bought him a nice cold drink. It wouldn't be easy to stand there and sing for so long, and i bet he was parched.
He was really happy, and he kept thanking his anonymous benefactor in English and hokkien.
I think it was amazing and i just really want to say a great big YOU ARE REALLY AWESOME to that nice guy who made my day and the buskers day.
After seeing that, i was spurred to donate too. See, kindness goes a long way.
Today, i will donate to every charity i see.
